The Right vs. The Left

Posted by tom-judy on March 1, 2010 at 5:41 PM

"One of the major differences between the right and the left concerns the question of authority: To whom do we owe obedience and who is the ultimate moral authority? For the right, the primary moral authority is God (or, for secular conservatives, Judeo-Christian values), followed by parents. Of course, government must also play a role, but it is ultimately accountable to God and it should do nothing to undermine parental authority. For the left, the state and its government are the supreme authorities, while parental and divine authority are seen as impediments to state authority. ... In a nutshell, the left wants to have ever-expanding authority over people's lives through ever-expanding governmental powers. It does so because it regards itself as more enlightened than others. Others are either enemies (the right) or unenlightened masses. It is elected by demonizing its enemies and doling out money and jobs to the masses." --radio talk-show host Dennis Prager

There is a left, but there is not a right. I will prove my point. Freddie Mack and Fannie Mae Granted loans to people with out a downpayment, and to some people without stable full time jobs. knowing full well this was not right and it would fail : All Democrats knew about this problem and most if not all Republicans.
no one spoke up about this Treasonous plot or to informed the public. news media was blocked by someone all these years!! All these Republican and Democrats are spineless Cowards and need to be removed from office for not stopping this plot. many political leaders and bankers should be sitting in jail who were directly responsible.
Responsibilty is being completely evaded by these villains and Scoundrel which is poisoning our Beloved Country!!

Lets not get intto this left and right stuff. It's both sides of the same coin, Nothing really changes except which side of the aisle our money goes to.

The left regards government as an entity responsible for helping other people, in other words, as the custodian of our collective responsibility to one another. The right would (I assume) agree, but believes that the sum of our collective responsibility is smaller than the left does. As a lefty, I don't think that I'm "more enlightened" (although I do think that I am right and you are wrong, which seems fair), I just think it's important to be able to (for example) pay for Health Care efficiently, or to provide the unemployed with the money they need to survive. I also don't have a lot of sympathy when rich people (and I don't mean you, specifically) complain about their tax burden, since the very act of having wealth makes wealth exponentially easier to acquire. That's the difference.

and over here on the right we have the Patriot act complete with a suspension of Habeas Corpus and a definition of "enemy combatant" that can be applied to anybody.

New York State Food and Beverage Tax

The economic downturn has hit many areas hard, including the Empire State. New York state officials continue to have political debates on how to fix the deficit. One proposed ?solution? suggests that we implement a food and beverage tax that would charge one penny per ounce of sugar. This could potentially increase the total cost of some products, such as soda, by as much as 50 percent. We recognize the need to balance the budget, but taxing the hardworking citizens of the state is not a solution. In fact, it will cause more burdens for New York families and businesses already struggling to make ends meet. Additionally, it will put thousands of New York jobs at risk. "Whatever revenue might be generated from this tax could potentially be offset by 6000 jobs being lost in this state. We can't let that happen." - Senator David J. Valesky.

The biggest argument that proponents of the tax have brought to the table is that a food and beverage tax will help curb childhood obesity. In reality, punitive taxes on food and beverages do not teach our children the importance of a good diet or how to live a healthy lifestyle - therefore doing little to improve public health. Comprehensive education, not taxation, is the key to improving public health.

Putting thousands of food and beverage industry jobs at risk and raising taxes on the products that hard working families enjoy is the wrong approach to fix New York's economic problems.
